Latest Features

Snip-It Pro 2.5 was released on January 1, 2010 and includes a number of new features designed to make it easier for coders to be more productive. Some of the highlights of the new features are covered below. For the latest on Snip-It Pro development, visit the blog.

Industrialize your Copy Paste operations with the Snippet Queue
Snip-It Pro allows you to queue all the snippets in a folder and then automatically paste them in succession in any application using short cut keys or using the Snippet Queue preview window. This feature works seamlessly with the Code Snippet Template feature that allows you to define placeholders in snippets that are swapped out before use. Simply specify values for each of the snippets in your folder, queue the folder and paste away.

A More Useful Explorer
The docking toolbar has always made it easy to use and manage snippets, but now the full screen snippet explorer has been improved. Drag and drop snippets directly to the explorer when in folder view or use the enhanced context menus to rename, delete and view the properties of folders and snippets alike. The docking toolbar also provides a tooltip for folders that indicates with the full path to where the folder physically resides.

More Advanced Options
The new advanaded options menu allows you to configure your own categories, including specifying custom syntax highlighting files, snipplr category IDs and line comment indicators. You can configure whether the improved global hot key feature uses the clipboard to paste snippets into any application, or enumerates each keystroke to "type" in the snippet on activation. (Global Hot Keys now support templated snippets as well.) You can also configure tabs vs. spaces in the snippet editor, automatic comment formating options, search preferences and modify the behavior of global hot keys.

Risk Nothing with More Export Options
Snip-It Pro's XML based format was always simple, and with Snipplr Integration, you could always publish your snippets to the cloud, but we've added a few more export options to make it easy to get your snippets out of Snip-It Pro if it is ever needed. With the new "Export to a Single File" command, you can combine all the snippets in a folder into a single text file. With the even more powerful "Template Export" you can define a custom template for exporting your snippets to any text or XML based format including Visual Studio snippets.
